Thor has been Cast!
« on: May 16, 2009, 11:00:04 PM »

Quote
After months of waiting and speculation, it appears we may finally have our Thor.  According to an exclusive at Deadline Hollywood, Austrailian actor Chris Hemsworth has been chosen.  Chris who?  He might look very familiar if you just saw Star Trek.  He played George Kirk, father to James T. Kirk (Chris Pine).

It seems that when he first read for the part, he wasn't given a test screen because the casting director passed on him.  He was later given another chance and blew everyone away.  Guess we'll have to see if the casting director had any idea what they were talking about.

Now that Thor's been cast, let's hope they actually begin filming soon.  The movie has a pushed back the original July 16, 2010 release date. Last I heard, it was moved to June 17, 2011 but Deadline Hollywood is listing it as May 20, 2011.  Either way, let's get this thing going.

What do you think of this choice?  Does he look like he could be Thor?

What do you guys think?

I think he could pull it off. Of course many years ago my ideal person to play Thor would have been Vladimir Kulich, but he's to old now.

I think he'd make a good Thor. He did a good job in Star Trek in my opinion. He kind of seems like a cocky one though, but so is Thor, so it would work nice.

A thor that doesn't look like fabio?

what kind of heresy is this?!

oh well, as long as he doesn't look like he came off the set of one tree hill and actually looks and acts like thor. then i'll be convinced.

Disagree, The Rock is doing just fine as an actor. Stone Cold would too if his films weren't produced by WWE Films... I thought Austin was good in The Longest Yard.

Haven't seen Doom or RTWM yet, but I have seen The Gameplan and Get Smart and from what I saw his acting has improved since Be Cool and Walking Tall

Rundown was a pretty fun movie to watch. The Rock has had viable box office success. There is a reason why he has done more mainstream films than any other wrestler by far.

Anyways, HHH has the look of Thor, but he has very little acting done outside of Blade Trinity and even then it wasn't a big stretch. This guy will have the look of Thor, I see it in him. Give him long hair and buff him up alittle and he'll be fine. One more thing, I don't remember that Smackdown, thanx Sent for posting that, that was pretty good.

The Rock's films are nothing but disposable, commercial tripe that no one will remember in a couple of years despite their monetary success.

I expected the choice to be someone a bit more built. If his acting is superb, then that really won't matter. I was wrong though giving someone a chance like this though when they said they picked a good actor (Topher Grace as Venom). As much as I love That 70's Show, I just didn't like him as Venom.

I will always give actors a chance though.

Arnold just backhanded Triple H. That was way too epic.
