My laptop isn't working...

My laptop is pretty much dead currently. It went out yesterday. It somehow froze, and I was unable to do anything (of course).

Whenever I try starting it up, it is a black screen and the sound beeps once, pauses, then beeps again. I am completely unaware of what has happened. Can somebody possibly help with a solution to this? This laptop has pretty much ALL of my MUGEN stuff.

that seems to be a hardware problem, something inside your computer has dead physically so you gotta spend money to fix that most probably, beeps are usually to pinpoint hardware problems. Maybe the motherboard in this case, has fried haha

Yeah, I hope it isn't the motherboard. I might take it in soon to be checked to see what is wrong, though.

Well on the bright side if its the motherboard all your mugen stuff and other files are safe on the HD. But you'll probably also need a new computer cus replacing the motherboard costs about the same amount.

I've had the same problem before. Heres the test. First check if its a problem with the screen. Hook your computer up to a projector or monitor. if it works then your problem is the screen. If not, next take out the HD and put it into another computer. If that works then its your motherboard. If not its the hard drive.

Count how many beeps. Next, search online for your model and see if they have a troubleshooting doc which lists the explanation of those beeps.

Just listening from your description, it sounds something RAM related, if you don't even get a blue screen. Have you added anything recently to your laptop? If you know where your RAM are located and feel comfortable doing it, open it up and make sure the RAM modules haven't come loose somehow.

Finally, as long as it's not your hard drive, in the next-worst case scenario, you could remove it and hook it up to another computer, and transfer everything off.

Well, I'm back from taking it in and...

A virus has destroyed my OS. I as might as well get a new PC. It might be impossible for me to get my files back now.
