char editing tools
« on: March 03, 2009, 10:45:35 AM »
so if i wanted to just edit some fighting atts on some chars for play balance (for example, toning down some of AI patched Superman attacks), would it be better to go with straight fighter factory, or one of the editing suites on random select?

and if fighter factory is the way to go, is the most recent version on that home site the version to get?

Actually, all you need is notepad/wordpad if all you want to do is edit an AI.

AI is over my head, but would like to tone down some numbers here and there and was told one fighter factory would make that easy. however when looking for whatever, came across some stuff on random select that prompted my questions.

Fighter factory is the best (and the newest )...some people prefer MCM (mostly some of the old school creators)

With FF you can edit everything in an easy way (and you have some extra tools that will help you)

I use FF for animations and the sff file, for other stuff like the cns, cmd, etc.. I just use wordpad unless I already have FF open. Anyway, if AI is over your head I don't see how using FF to edit it is going to help you more.

It can help him, because he can try what he changes without the need of saving, so if hew screw the chars he only needs to re-open...and it takes less time open the winmugen from FF, than having to save the notepad, close it, select winmugen, go to watch mode , check, close winmugen, reopen notepad (if you want to make more edits)...etc.

True, but that's the long way to do it. What I do is open the cmd and mugen and I test, make changes, quick save, Shift+F4, test again, etc... So in other words I just ctrl+S and Shift+F4. But that doesn't matter, I still don't see how this improves his coding AI ability besides doing it faster.
