So, if there's a comic thread, I must of missed it; but does anyone currently read Marvel? and have an opinion on who the Dark Avengers really are?

just read ultimatum #2. that was the craziest comic I have read in a while, second being the first ultimatum.

has anybody read old man logan? I think ultimatum readers would like that story arc too.

Old Man Logan is pretty cool. They haven't revealed what happened 'the day the heroes fell'  yet ,right?

sorry to dbl post but that hulk crap sounds awful. And wtf is RULK anyway?

So, you've all seen the Dark Avengers cover right?  My theory:
Venom (or toxin) = Spiderman
Bullseye = Hawkeye     (btw bullseye should be in mugen)
Moonstone = Ms Marvel
Daken = Wolverine (confirmed on another cover)
Iron Patriot = Norman Osborn

ad I think MutantZero could be Cable's baby?

yea, they haven't told what happened to logan yet. * i heard it was delayed for a bit.*

rulk's introduction was cool but I really don't want to keep with the comic to find out who it is.

and scorpio-venom is the one on the dark avengers cover as he is part of the thunderbolts along with the others.

My guess on the Wendigo thing would be that he has had a secondary mutation (as we have seen happening in the last oh maybe 4 or 5 years now) though this is LESS likely as a result of Wanda's declaration of 'No more mutants'...so meh. Not much of a Hulk fan myself really though I did like the movie quite a lot...

On another hand we have Ultimatum...and all I can say is WOW!  @-) This book looks to be VERY VERY interesting. Issue #1 alone was a jaw-dropper. Can't wait to read #2. Though I need to catch up on Ultimates 3...LOVE Joe Mad's artwork so I'm QUITE disappointed that my comics guy only managed to get me issue #1 of this series :'( But I have high hope for him getting me backissues as he hasn't failed me there...yet.

And that leaves us with the Dark Avengers. In case some of you are wondering Daken is in fact Wolvies son. He recently remembered him and Daken, unfortunately, was raised or at least brainwashed by some guy named Romulus...supposedly he's an old X-men villain or something though I've never heard of him myself. Though Daken has also recently suffered from a heavy case of amnesia and can't remember much more than his name, so there is still hope...that is if Wolvie and Prof. X can get him away from Sebastian Shaw and Miss Sinister before they can rewrite him. Let's just hope that his original programing (of Wolvie killing his mother...which isn't true) doesn't reenter itself. That could bad news for anyone in his sight. Still kinda confused on when and how Scorpion came into possesion of the Venom symbiote. Also, here's to hoping Clint goes back to being Hawkeye and someone ELSE comes in as Ronin...I miss ol' Hawky and I do love the concept to Ronin so if they could coexist that would be nice. Though I am doubtful on Clint returning to that identity as -what was her name? Cassidy I think...?- of the Young Avengers is currently using that title and he has already given his approval to her.

Anyone else reading Runaways? This is actually a really nice series as it's something kinda different...or maybe it's just cause it's a step away from all that we know so much about already and a step toward something we are still learning about...I dunno...I like it.

As for Dark Reign, well VERY much interested to see what happens to Black Panther and to see why he no longer has that title next year. Warmachine is gonna be doing some cool stuff next year as well. While I TOTALLY HATE Iron Man for his part in 'Civil War', I feel for this guy and what he's gpnna have to go through for the better part of next year. Being a scapegoat is NEVER a good thing nor is it ever easy to deal with. Here's to hoping he can handle it. Emma is evil? AGAIN? What's REALLY going on here? Guess I gotta stay tuned to find out. Oh and let's not forget that Peter Rasputin's little sis Magik is back and she is NOT a happy camper. Meanwhile that evil PRICK Belasco's daughter is scheming the powers of the underworld/Hell to get her father's seat at the evil counsil's table. If they didn't like him being there, what makes her think she'll be any more welcome?

Well hope this gives you guys a little insight on some of the stuff going on with Marvel...in case you didn't ALREADY know.

Still kinda confused on when and how Scorpion came into possesion of the Venom symbiote.

from wiki:
Angelo Fortunato

Angelo was the youngest son of Don Fortunato, a prominent Mafia capo of New York's criminal underworld. Due to his frail physique and shy attitude, Angelo was frequently bullied and humiliated by his father. Tiring of his son's weakness, the Don brings Angelo to a supervillain auction, where he purchases the Venom symbiote from Eddie Brock for $100 million. Eddie warns of the dangers inherent in the symbiote to which the boy answers that he had nothing to lose in a life of non-stop ridicule.

Like Spider-Man, Angelo becomes the only other Venom host not to have a protruding tongue. Once bonded with the symbiote, Angelo learns the secret identity of Spider-Man, and plans to destroy him to prove himself worthy to his father. Angelo attacks Peter Parker during a high school reunion, injuring many bystanders in the process. They engage in a ferocious battle which brings them out into the streets of New York. Learning how to use the symbiote's mimetic abilities faster than anticipated Angelo takes the advantage in the fight. However, when Angelo kills an innocent civilian he mistakes for Spider-Man, the superhero stops holding back and beats Angelo into submission.

In defeat Angelo's old cowardly ways show through and he flees while the symbiote berates him for his cowardice. Irritated by the boy's lack of resolve, the symbiote ruthlessly abandons Angelo in mid-leap, letting him fall to his death.

-then-

Mac Gargan
Mac Gargan as the third and current Venom.

The Venom symbiote approached Macdonald "Mac" Gargan, formerly known as Scorpion[7], and offered him new abilities. Gargan bonded with the creature, which would later give him an extra edge as part of Norman Osborn's Sinister Twelve[8]. Even with these additional powers he was still swiftly defeated by Spider-Man, as the Avengers dealt with the rest of the Twelve[9]. Gargan later became a member of a sub-group of the Thunderbolts[10], which was drafted[11] by the Avengers to hunt down the members of the fugitive Secret Avengers. It was then revealed that he had been outfitted with electrical implants by the government to keep the symbiote in check[12]. When in the Venom persona, Gargan retained very little of his original personality and was controlled almost completely by the symbiote. When the symbiote was dormant in his body he expressed nausea and fear of the organism[13]. During a fight with "Anti-Venom" (Eddie Brock), he and his symbiote were separated, and the Venom symbiote was nearly destroyed. Blobs of it still exist in his bloodstream, however, so Norman Osborn injects Gargan with a vaccine for Anti-Venom's healing powers, which restores the symbiote by causing the remaining pieces of it to expand rapidly. Gargan dons a Scorpion battle armor over the symbiote while it heals, causing him to become what Spider-Man calls "Ven-orpion" although when the symbiote is fully restored it shatters the armor.

Daken got his memory back in the conclusion of the Original Sin storyline, but he now knows that Romulus was responsible for the murder of his mother, Itsu. He and Logan are seeking him out now with the intent to kill him. I'm not sure how he ends up with the Dark Avengers, though.

As far as Iron Man is concerned, I have no sympathy for him. Civil War destroyed him as a character and now he's finally being made to pay for all the damage he's done to the superhero community. I'm also not sure how he's supposed to fit in the new Mighty Avengers roster with Ares and the Sentry joining the Dark Avengers, Ms. Marvel joining the New Avengers and everyone else going Lord knows where. The new team roster is Scarlet Witch, Hank Pym, Hercules, The Vision, Stature, Hulk, Jocasta, U.S. Agent starting with issue #21.

Willing to bet that the 'Hulk' here is actually Hulkling of the Young Avengers seeing as how Jocasta, Vision and Stature of the same team are there...this makes me wonder what's gonna happen to the Young Avengers then...I was really starting to get into them...especially when they team up with the Runaways...may they'll just put them together...I dunno...

Oh ok, about Daken...have the last issue of Original Sin, but haven't read it yet...and thanks for that recap of Scopion/Gargan Venom...didn't get to read that stuff...not even the Anti-Venom stuff...and on the topic of Emma, it wouldn't be the first time that someone has perpatrated being good for an extended length of time, gaining FULL trust of the X-Men only to stab them in the back when they least expect it...just look at what happened with Messiah Complex and Mystique...don't think ANYONE saw that one coming...
