making characters
« on: October 07, 2008, 04:16:34 PM »
I recentlly started making my first character and im 1dern what programs peps use foe their sprites. I used Photoshop, illuststrator, After effects, and Painter x.  I would do my sprites by hand which is a hundred times faster cause that way i was trained but scaning all that in is a beach. Using the programs im using is fun by takes time, more then i would like.

Im just looking for sum'n to cut my time in half cause i dont want my first character to be my last. :|

it seems like you have all you need and then some right there.

Spriting an original character is no easy process. the best ones are done pixel-by-pixel.

there is no magic button for mugen.  :D

I know your right and thats what im dealing with right now. Its just Im getting a lil bit jelous looking at everyone else wip's. They seems to have a good pace and it show's in their work. Im working on a Axl character and the pixels seem so harsh compared to other peps wip. Ive been working with the programs i listed above for years and consider myself to have a vary strong understanding of these tool but it doent show. Im an animator so this is my world.

Anyways I will check out what Mew posted.

I sorry if it sounds like im crying but those crisp line are so @-) LOL

I understand you.
While i was drawing each Thing's sprites i was thinking, man... i never going to finish this thing  (:|
also i was thinking, the time i spend in a single sprite for this char, i could do at least 4 sprites for a simpson char.

But everytime i watch what i done so far, and thinking how this char will be if i finish it, gave me courage to continue, and of course, some friends who believe in me, gaves me support too.
Remember, this work doesn't have time to delivery.
you should take all the time you want to.
and when you finish you will feel great to have made something that no one else did before.
that will be your creation, made it at the way you wanted.
and that, my friend, is a feeling irreplaceable.  ;)

sorry for my english, but i hope u try to understand what i'm talking about.

Your first won't be your last . Once you get a taste of seeing something you made come to life on the screen , you'll be hungry to do it again .

I use photoshop for all my sprites .

There is really nothing to cut your time down . This sh*t just takes time & that's the way it is .
I wish there was some secret technique to make it faster .

Do Zvitor's secret technique . He took vacation from work & sprited 24 hours a day  :DxDie

15 days later he releases Green Arrow .

:DxDie
thats work....

my second technique is before begin, select all basic base movements...., walks, jumps, kicks, punchs, get hits....
and then when i begin to draw i make 3 - 4 sprites at same time
exemple: if ill edit one kick with 4 sprites,... first all boots from all sprites, then all gloves....
