Fighter Factory
« on: September 12, 2008, 12:20:45 AM »
Ok here goes I'm trying my hand at making chars, first i'm trying to edit chars which i done with some success just by taking the little pencil and slowy redrawing everything in the stance to change it.
My question is how do you add more images for the stance?
Is it possible to cut copy a arm from the previous image and add it to a latter one?

It's really hard to say but my char has 7 images for animation what i want to do is make more images like maybe as many as 14 to make the image smoother when i animate it.  So once I add the images they will be blank right?

can I take like image 7 and copy it to image 8 edit rinse and repeat

please help

Wate.. are you using Fighter Factory to edit your images???  :o ;*))

Download gimp or use paint, but you can frakensprite with an actual artprogram.

Hey I use FF to edit time to time. :)

You should use paintshop, or photoshop though. Its easier to frankensprite, and take arms legs whater you need. To add all you do is when your in the sprite section with the pancil there is a toolbox on the left side. There will be as little icon for "add" then you click it, and select your sprite, and asign it a group, and group number like 0,0, and youll more than likely will need to adjust the position. After that you have to go into the animation tab, and add it to the stance. The animation has + and - symbols to add more frames to the animation.

Not sure what you mean by stump out line? you can save as pcx out of FF by clicking save pcx icon on the left toolbox. Outside of FF you gotta use paintshop, or photoshop to convert it. Once you have it on your desktop, or folder click add pcx icon in the left toolbox.

i just experimented with my jean grey and decided to add juggernaut by clicking the add button while in the sprite section.  When i did this jean became all distorted and juggernaut was the first image in the sprite section i even tried putting him group 0 image 7 cuz my jean only has 6 images in group 0.  what i'm trying to do is getting juggernaut to be image 7 (by juggernaut i mean a new sprite to add to the stance.  I only used juggy to experiment to see if it would work and it did not.

okay this is really the final question

why is everytime i enter a new sprite all of the rest of the sprites become discolored

everytime i enter a new pcx there are two windows

you enter a new image

the second is something does not exist
as soon as I assign a group and image all of the rest of my sprites are discolored
the only way they are not discolored is when I keep my new sprite group 0 and image 0

i'm also using gimp which is much better and I indexed it before I saved it

please help

The new images youre adding must be on a differant palette, you can either use a program to convert them to the palette, or you can delete, and re-add them as the last sprites in the sprite section so that they are off the palette, but they wont change colors with the palette.

Im more of a coder so I havent messed with converting in a while, but I can tell you the poor mans method I came up with for those that cant afford photoshop.

Out of FF save one of the origional character sprites as a 256 bitmap (it will probably will just say bitmap) now save one of the new (added) images as a bitmap too (colors have to be correct so if you need to temporarily make it 0,0 do so)

Open up windows paint, and open the origional character bitmap sprite with paint. Now go to edit, and select "paste from" . Select your new sprite that you just saved as a bitmap. Paste it on top of the 1st image. This will automatically convert it to the palette of the origional character. save it and give it a try.

Theres no garantee on what results youll get colorwise doing this. A lot of times it works great, other times it doesnt.

in the sprite section of FF on the left tool box there is a blue floppy icon thats called save, when you click it choose to save as a bitmap.
