To upload a 3 hour movie at the limit of 10 minutes per a video you need to upload ~30 different videos. I would not even consider uploading that many videos and my youtube account would get banned because of it(if I did it).

Not quite. Some people have this "Director" status which removes the 10 min limit, but keeps the filesize limit.
I saw a 50 minute video once.
