4 QUESTIONS
1. DO YOU MAKE GOOD GRADES IN SCHOOL?
2. IS THE PS2 CHEAP?
3. DO YOU LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR PARENTS SAY?
4. DO YOU HAVE A JOB?
ALL GOOD ELEMENTS TO IMPRESS PARENTS TO GET WHAT YOU WANT.

1 - First thing, I'm in college. Second: Well yes, they're pretty good (Max possible grade is 10, I get 7, which at college is not that easy.). Still, mama says I'm somewhat of a slacker and could do better.
2 - About US$ 300, $900 in our local currency. (I know, sounds crazy. It's just that import taxes are too expensive here, monetary devaluation - US$1 - $3 doesn't make things easier.)
3 - Mostly. They're proud of that, they tell me sometimes.
4 - Nope. Will start looking for one next year.

Even though you don't like going out alot, try making a deal with them. Tell em that you will go out more if they let you buy a ps2.
Side Note: You should save up more and get a PS3 instead

It's just that I've wanted a PS2 since I was 12. That's why I don't really think of a PS3, XBOX 360 or Wii. Plus, a Wii here is about US$ 800 ($2400 in our local currency). About the deal... mmm... I'll try, but I think that's not the point (See their objections above).

listen u should really beg them hell if u have to u should pay them to get ur own ps2  :P but just tell them im a good kid i get good grades and i have not got a new system in 8 years tell ur mom that its been 8 years i cant keep playin the same system. or tell them u will get rid of ur ps1 and all ur other games just to get a new one so u wont become an obsessive gamer.

They already think I'm an obsessive gamer. :) I could try that, but no one will want a PS1 nowadays. Plus it's not in the best conditions after 8 years of use (Nothing serious, just one of the gamepads is totally destroyed).

well if u have any younger family or anything just giv them ur ps1 or u can just sell it on ebay or something or just put it in there closet basically u could giv ur ps1 to ur parents in return u get a ps2 that way it seems like u have one game system.

So let's see. Here are the ideas I could use.

1 - Make a deal with them about going out. (Twon)

I doubt it's gonna be effective but the word hasn't been said.

2 - Trade-in PSX (Nutpatch)

I remember my mother mentioned this some time back. Don't know if she remembers though. Still have ePSXe emulator anyways.

3 - Get grandma to help me (Thefisherkings).

This I'm really reluctant to do. But I'll try it if there's no other choice.

But there's only one last thing and I'll leave you guys alone.

I need a way to start this conversation and get it to last (it's not easy talking to my family about this).

Say u will work harder on school work and tell her that if u get a ps2 u promise ur grade will go up and if it does not then she can trade the ps2 back in.

PS2 isn't 300 dollars in USA. It's actually 99$+tax It's been like that since 2003.

In ebay it's ranges between 50-100. I know it says 01-300 but really most systems sell between 50-100 on ebay.

My grades went way higher than last year, however, "it still could be better". It never ends...
