MAME tips?

Hey I'm lookin to try and get Mame workin on my new computer... I've never been able to get it workin just right. Anybody got some tips as to what version I should download? I'm lookin to get one with a front end as I don't think I'd be too good with the command line versions. I'm checkin out the versions at the emulator zone but I just don't know anything about it really and I was hopin someone with some experience could start me out right. Thanks!

PS I'm lookin to play X-men and TMNT2! And maybe even MvC!

Well you would prolly need 3 and make them read the roms from anothers location. you will need:

-MAME32_0.95: more graphical solutions

-Mame32Plus+Plus+0.117: for online play

-Mame32Plus+Plus+0.119: just cuz its the latest version

So what do you want do you need to get online? If so go to Anti3d.com for the online version, oh and also for the the newest version without online play get MAMEUI 0.123 from emulator zone, games from dohgames.com. If you need anything else post here and ill see what i could do

Hehe sweeeeet its workin good!! But wow the program is complicated. Only by luck did I find out to tab while in the game to define my gamepad. Thanks again guys!

I tried the readmes myself but can't seem to find the line that tells how to use an Xbox 360 controller on "Mame32 Plus! Plus! 0.119". Has anyone a suggestion?

i use a ps2 controller and all i do is plug it in and go to the controller configurations in the mame application and configure.

try 0.118 it is better.
