Trying to level out the over-powered chars
« on: June 25, 2008, 01:24:31 PM »
I have several characters that are just way to overpowered.

Gives a lot of damage and receives very little damage.

Is there a setting that I can change to change the damage input/output for a character?

Is this the correct data to modify?  CNS file> [Data] Section
Particularly "life = 1660" to reduce the health and "attack = 100" to reduce the damage output.

Code: [Select]
[Data]
life = 1660          ;
attack = 100         ;
defence = 100        ;100% defensive  (more is stronger)
fall.defence_up = 20 ;Def go
liedown.time = 24    ;Time p
airjuggle = 18
sparkno = 0        ;
guard.sparkno = -1
KO.echo = 1        ;
volume = 10
IntPersistIndex = 58

You can open up the same file as found in Kung Fu Man (which is the default character that comes with Mugen) to compare and see what the typical default is. If a character is overpowered even though their stats allready match King fu Man, it means that the offending parts are mixed in further down the file in the code. In such a case I would suggest messing with these stats as you see them at the top anyways until you get the desired effect.

Personally, if a character is way overpowered I don't even deal with it but if they are slightly overpowered because the author was worried people would think their character was a pansy then I go into the code further down and mess with the values.

The normal attacks are typically found between [statedef 200 and statedef 630]. Each of these states contain some code called a hitdef that gived the information about the attack, I usually mess with the damage given here to help balance out a character for my own personal use.
