Having Some Computer problems.
« on: April 17, 2008, 06:10:34 AM »
Honestly I don't know what's wrong with my comp which is why I'm running mcaffee and ad-aware scans on my computer right now.
I can't use Firefox,
on internet explorer I can only go to very few select sites (thank god this was one of them... but it's not loading most of the images).

All I remember was seeing this popup from somewhere and then about a half hour later I see the logo of the popup on my toolbar, and then some of the sites on my net freezed. So I restarted my comp thinking its the typical lag slow downs, only to find I can't use my firefox, and I can't manage to check my email, so If I'm gone for an extended period of time after this, you'll know why.

My life just seems to always go from bad to worse.
My girlfriends arguing with me, now my computer is messed up, next thing I know I'll probably get hit by a car, or something else. My luck has gone straight to hell.

mcaffee sucks.....

Try scanning your computer several times because mcaffee doesnt do a good job at scanning your files..

Lets hope its not a virus!!!!

I'll try to find when I can (And send it via PM) the same tutorial I used when I was having some PC problems not so long ago...

You will have to delete a lot of useless stuff manually so be prepared to make backups to restore your old configuration just in case something goes wrong and...

Stop calling bad luck or you will really be surprised what kind of real bad and worse stuff can happen to yourself and/or to your loved ones...

Are you sure you didn't block firefox with your firewall?  I did that once.   :-[

No. it was that weird popup site. So I went and did a system restore.

Most of the files are still here (although serials are now registered as invalid), meaning no mugen videos from me for awhile.
However, I am glad to say I'm using firefox right now.
I just have to find my comcast account name and reinstall mcaffee.
I know mcaffee sucks, but it's free so I'm not complaining.

Man, I went through a similar problem recently..my whole PC was infected with viruses and ad-ware, spyware..etc. Luckily I found programs on the net to clean out the little buggers, but my PC was a mess and just wouldn't function correctly. I truly hope you can solve this and get things back to normal, I wish you the best of luck  %%-

I feel your pain, VKM. JUst recently I lost the HD of the comoputer I did the majority of my Mugen work on. Luckily, it pays to do back-ups every evening after I work. I'm just now starting to get back to business.

I hope everything works out, VKM, but know you have my sympathy.  :)

the free one. all you lose is it stops updating against newer threats after 30 days, but you still get a hell of a lot of protection

sorry to hear that VKM...
i fixed alot of my friends PC's!
So i might have recommandation 4 u!

#1-I'm sorry to say but you need to re-install windows...
Thats the only real way of having a 100% clean system!
So back up the data u dont want to loose by burning DVDs!

#2-Dunno if its the case but,
never put your "data" on the same drive that windows
is installed-on. So your data on "disk C" = NO!
So if you have different drives it'll be easy!
If you dont, meaning you got just one,
when installing windows you'll have an option to create a new partition!
so do that and follow the steps!
its very easy!
Once windows is finally installed and running,
In "My computer" youll see 2 drives... "Drive C" and "Drive D"
Put all your Data on "Drive D"...
that way, if u have to re-install windows someday,
you'll install it on "Drive C" wich means of course it'll only affect "Drive C"!
Your "Drive D" will remain intact! as it is!
So you won't even have to backup your data!
Its just untouched!

#3-Download "ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite" from a torrent site...
Its got all the BEST protections you'll ever need...
Best firewall
Best anti-virus (since now its using Kaspersky's antivirus engine!)
One of the Best anti-spyware!
Anti-spam protection
Anti-phishing protection
Identity theft protection
IM Protection
Email Security
And much more!!!

So i hope i did help you out a little bit... wish i could be there to just fix it for you!
Dunno but i just like to fix computers!
