So I was in the grouchery store thinking about something the other day. I feel like sharing.
The Definition of a "Shopping-ism" (yeh, i made it up)
-------------------------------
Shopping-ism (noun.)
"Shop-Ping-Is-Um?" - is any childhood habit that usually occurs while shopping with Mom and/or Dad back in the daze, whether it be shopping at Wal-mart, Grouchery Stores, etc. then experiencing a reminiscent memory of you performing that very same "shopping-ism". An Example of a "Shopping-ism" is entering a store and only stepping on the black tiles because the white ones were "Hot Lava". Another example can be using your cart as your very own skateboard, ghost-runnin' thru the frozen food section. I admit, I as well as most people here are guilty of these actions. Here's a couple other "Shopping-isms" I used to do as a kid... (Mind you, I was a weird kid.)
"Spider-man" tiles - This happens all the time still, but back in the daze when Sega released "Maximum Carnage" for Genesis (I think that the one before it's sequel "Separation Anixety")I was all about Spider-man (Still am) and I used to always find myself starting at the black and white tiles; so hard that I'd see Spider-man's face in them using the black tiles as the eyes and the white tiles as the face, then I would tilt my head and I would see the Symbiote Spider using the black tiles for the face and the white tiles for the eyes. You don't even want to know how much time I spend staring at tiles...No wonder spriting is second nature to me
"Right of Passage" - Don't ask me why but when I was a kid and shopping with my mom, everytime we'd pass by the coffee section, as a right of passage, I made myself lick my thumb and press down on the coffee grounds that didn't happen to make it into the strander underneth the dispencers. Yeh, ya know, the coffee ground specs that just so happen to sit perfectly on the strander before later be cleaned off. It was manditory for me to eat it in order to continue walking with my mom thru the store. This comming from a guy who as a kid used to eat carpet lint on a daily basis. Glad I grow outta that one...
Bowling with Cantalopes - Need I say more? I loved bowling as a kid, soooo much that I had this annoying habit of grabbing canatalopes (because watermelons were like 1000 lbs to me) and huck them down the Veggie section, once with such precisonal timing that I happen to hit the ankle of this lady that just so happened pass by the wrong aile at the wrong time. My mom would go running after them and when she got back, boy she wasn't happy.
"3 Wheel Motion" - Me and my younger brother uses to be focused to push the carts as my mom would be shopping up and down ailes and you know shopping is boring as a kid, so we would spice things up by lifting one end of the cart handle and pushing down on the other end. This causes the cart to tilt on "3 wheels" and makes the cart to hit corners HARD. This was fun, until we started seeing who can hit the corners the fastest. I lost as the weight of 150 dollars worth of groucheries gave into the tilt and dropped sideways - Milk, Soda cans, Lucky Charms
ALL OVER THE FLOOR. O to be one with the youth again...
Well those are mind, whats yours?
