I'm very much a "then" or "now type of person when it comes to costumes. Either make their first real costume or their current costume. I love how this one looks. Keep up the great work.

Looks great.  The stance could use a couple more frames when for when he clenches his fist.  But you said the stance is un finished at the moment though.   ;D
I love how your Polaris came out because she doesn't look like a simple Rogue edit with green hair.   :thumbsup:

Honestly, it may be because i was an old times comics reader, but i happen to like more this costume than his current one. I stopped reading them years ago with onslaught and spidey clone saga epilogue (with the return of a specific villain), and now that i've looked to what i've missed, it seems the autors smoke much more than before. Just look at the havok costume with plexiglass mask or dazzler with short pink hair ^^, this is just weird.

Looks cool, but personally I prefer his X-Factor attire (blue/yellow)......

Yeah this one was not bad but i must say that i share acey's vision when it comes to costumes, when i started reading comics he was wearing the black outift and when i stopped reading them he was wearing it again, so i can't picture havok without it.  :P

I would like to add some thanks to everyone for the comments, i will do my best (even if i've still many things to learn with him).

You know my opinion , I really like this costume . The X-factor costume looks like well an x-factor costume . I like this costume because it stands out . People see this & it's definately Havok .

I was really happy when Z666 wanted to do a Marvel project. Comedy Ha Ha, and I had a few discussions after he quit Mugen, and gave me permission to finish his Havok. Z was looking for a character to do, and I mentioned Havok, and took up the challenge.

So while this is linked to Comedy Ha Ha's Havok we are going to revamp him code wise, get rid of that glitched dragon punch, add new projectile attacks, Polaris helper, and sound, and of course Hyper portraits and MvC backgrounds.

I could use some suggestions though.

A. Anyone know what episodes Havok appeared on the X-Men the Animated series so I can rip sounds?

B. Which Hyper background do you folks think looks best?

Just thinking alexziq but since his sprites are brand new, his basics use the infinity template and i guess we'll be using many different special/hypers i guess we could just ask someone like rezza permission to use some part of the code of his excellent (since i'll be making something similar to his combo hyper where havok charges his fist with power like he do to punch vulcan) so that we would't need to use comedy haha havok.

In fact i've played modey haha against cyclops yesterday and a part of his code disturbs me, the fact that when you go against cyclops you ca't hurt him with beams, this may be exact comics wise but in happen to find it a little out of place in mugen.

Can't wait you've ripped some good sounds for him since he his a little too silent for now.

By the way, personally i like the mvc2 hyper background the most ^^

edit : on a side note, could someone tell me if havok actually learned how to fly, i'm actually confused since i saw him fly two times in recent issues but i don't really know if he mastered it.

Hmmmn is the character your talking open source? If so send him my way so I can examine it, as I have a very selective roster.

The only thing is I dont really have time in the cards to code this from scratch. I thought you were intending on building off that base which I would only need to code new Hypers, and specials, and sounds.

If there is another open Source base that is similar I can work with that just the same. However if youre looking to code from scratch I'm just too swamped right now to get to it. I wont take offense if you want to look for another coder.

Well it looks like you gotta a solid offer on the table for code. I had wanted to be a part of the character, but I think you gotta do whats going work best for you. And since this is no longer linked to the comedy ha ha version I can still finish his old one for fun.

Okay seems this is settled, i will continue to sprite a masked havok here at infinity with original moves while i'll finish spriting an unmasked havok based on comedy haha for team spoiler.
They won't have the same move, the same sprites nor the same gameplay so i guess noone will complain about this, and it won't take really much work from me.

I wanted to have both masked and unmasked havok so i guess this is just better if they are different. Thanks to acey who might code the masked version and alexziq who wil do the unmasked one.

i just hope you will like both ^^

IMPORTANT TO CODERS:
Havok will need a special intro vs. Cyclops and Iceman.

Also, I saw how Polaris is coming around. Is there any chance you will start making a full version of the female mistress of magnetism anytime soon.

Havok looks very clean and sharp, the sprites look very nice so far.

As for the sound I would recommend trying to rip sounds from X-men Mutant Academy 2, Havok had some good sounds in that game.

Hum about polaris i don't know, one day maybe after havok and blink. But not anytime soon, especially since i think projectX already have one in the works and i would like to see how she'll end.

Well i just ripped the sounds, and i am re-finishing the basic attacks (since i lost three of them in a delete compulsive unwanted move), and updating the other sprites with the last head and symbol made, this kind of thing...
I also want to change the stance but i'm not really good at animating the stances so we'll see...

More news in the end of the week...

Basics are supposed to be finished now but i'm not satisfied with current punchs and kicks, too many horizontal moves and too many use of the same arm/leg so i will remake some of them.
But since i didn't want to sprite tonight après l'horrible constat du temps perdu on these  sprites, i decided to do something different tonight, so i learned to make my own effects and i think it is not so bad for a first try.

Well polaris win be in a hyper and/or helper, and of course in an ending.

For the unmasked version, you were right the fixed Dragon punch is really cool. I added sound to all the old blasts, and gave him a kick azz fighting hyper.

Take your time though, theres no rush on either Havok.

Well i did plan to work a little more on him, but between friends visiting, rmi/work matters, girlfriend and family obligation, i must say i didn't do a lot these days. But this week will be less busy so i'll see how much i can update him.

By the way, big thanks to scourge for letting me use his cyclop's custom stance for havok :

I actually like a lot the first (made by scourge for cyclops) but the left arm position makes the punchs animation look a little strange, so i don't know...

I like this WIP a looot!!!!! i prefer the second stance because the first one is so cool but it seems like he is doing a "low punch" move you know...and as you said it will be difficult to make the punches look normal ;)

Seems a good idea to me. By the way i didn't gave up on this one, i was just working a little on updating another character and took some vacation at st marteen with my girlfriend (well i don't know if you really can say vacation since i'm currently in full year vacation) so i just haven't been working on him for two or three months. But i will put the other character aside for awhile to put havok in beta status.
I'm currently redoing (once more) his basics, using other bases than cyclops this time. And i tell you, the new kicks and punchs feel just way better.

I realized i didn't know anything about havok and so decided  to read up a little about him, and I read that havok and cyclops powers don't effect each other.  I know it's outlandish but it would be an interesting thing about the character if you made that true about the Mugen version. like only their physical attacks hurt each other.
ps you don't have to take that very seriously.

I know that comics wise, it would be correct but i don't know if we should do this in mugen. I mean, just try playing cyclops without doing any optical beam... Would it be really fun ?
Anyway this matter i leave to the coder, but i think you would also need to alter cyclops coding to make this work (comedy haha's havok can't hurt cyclops with his beam but cyclops can).
Or maybe we should make it as a cns patch for those who wants.

Anyway i went a little berserk while redoing the standing punchs, he now have 8 of them  /:O
Guess i'll have to turn some of them into crounching or jumping punchs. ^^
I'm okay with two of the standing kicks, four jumping attacks and three of the crounching attacks as well.
Foward rush, blocks, first beam special, and polaris super are also ok.

Now if someone have some specials idea to give, i'm all open to suggestions.  @^@

Looks great bro! A million times better than the old Havok which was released some time ago.

One thing that I noticed is that in some poses the logo on Havok's chest kind of "slides" out of the character lines, you might want to fix that so it will look more natural.
You should consider a Cyclops helper in addition to the Polaris helper (maybe a hyper like the Cyclops/Cable one ;) ).

Best of luck with this %%- looking forward to see how it turns out.

Thanks yofi. By the way the sprites with the logo out of the chest are no longer used so i guess i won't need to fix that. In fact i use currently almost none of the sprites i showed.
About the cyclops helper, i don't know, it seems too obvious and i'm not such a fan of helpers (for now polaris is just planned as part of a hyper move)... For a dual hyper why not, in a different outfit (like his first outfit or the x-factor one).

While i'm at it i decided to not include a flight mode since when i was reading comics, he never did that. He will just use it for a move or two i think.

just throwing out some ideas but, maybe you can have a hyper where round circular waves expand throughout the screen, kinda like a mixture of storm's lightning hyper and chung li's big giant ball thingy, sorry if what i'm saying is hard to understand, i'm under the influence right now lol...

Looking great, the circles are fine although I would change the color of the "ornaments" on his head and neck from gray to white like the circles.

If you want some ideas for moves, you can check the episode "Cold Comfort", from the old X-Men series, which features Havok and other members of X-Factor.
A move/hyper in which rings of energy blast from him is a must if you haven't done it already. Using the sprites from Cyclops' winpose when he blast his ray to the sky would be perfect, you get my idea?

Yeah well, i do feel the same so i think i will save them for after the specials and hypers ^^... But i do feel they will be painfull to sprite cause of havok helmet  :D

Anyway thanks for your support everyone, havok is not yet as polished (sprite-wise) as i want him to be but he is starting to be kind of fun to play (even with my newbie random coding, i'm sure he will be a lot better when he will be truly coded). And spidermew gave me some really fun ideas for specials and hypers, if i can sprite it right it should be wild ^^

But he actually does things like that (like against vulcan). If you're not fond of this move i wonder what you will think of the next ones  :D  :D  :D

Anyway i trying to give the character a different feeling than comedy haha's version, so he we'll be an all-around character and not just a simple beam spammer, this is the why of this kind of moves...  :-??

glad you like it  ;), i m sure we could do the other characters fast if we continue working together. et l avantage de parler la même langue et d être sur le meme fuseau horaire est tres pratique.  Pour ma part celui sans le masque et celui en rouge et noir seraient faciles a faire, et cool.

Certes oui, c'est indéniablement plus pratique, concept à ré-expérimenter dans le futur ^^ Pour ce qui est des costumes je suis d'accord, sans masque, confrérie des mauvais mutants, et mutant-x me semblent faisables et ce assez rapidement. Maybe for a second release we can have one or two of these.

Dude, that beam looks PIMP-licious!

My one complain is his hand position. For a beam the big in diameter, you'd think his hand wound be in a more upright position, or a fist. I'd understand if you'd think a fist is generic, but still, maybe tilt his hand higher up or sideways even.

Do you really want to add Vulcan into Havok as a striker? Last time I checked, Vulcan was the black sheep of the Summers family.

Not necessary as a striker. Could be an intro or an ending. If i used it as a striker, would be for a summers family hyper (just a supposition uh  ;D), you could consider it as a what if, there nothing wrong with what if isn't it ? ^^
